Common Questions
What are all the acceptable options if I won’t be able to make pickup?
All the following options are acceptable and don’t require you to notify us:
Send a friend to pickup - just give them your name (or order them a bag and tell them how to find it)
Skip a week and double up the next week (or spread out the value as you like over the next few pickups- in winter this is strongly encouraged). We ask members to manage themselves in this regard.
Come to the other day (Wednesday / Saturday) if you must. If members do this sparingly it is ok.
Order a bag for late pickup, following instructions for pre-bag members.
How do I pay my balance?
We will notify you periodically by email of your share balance if you are paying in installments. You can pay in the following ways.
Cash or Check at brought or sent to the farm - 531 County Rte 6, High Falls NY 12440
Credit Card online when signing up for a share (3% fee applies)
Credit Card online here when paying a remaining balance (3% fee applies)
SNAP at pickup in the checkout room
When and how do I pick up a bag after hours?
If you placed an order using the form, your bag will be in the cooler or fridge with your name and number. Enter through the white double doors on the gable end of the barn and follow signs to the walk-in cooler. Please close the doors!
Summer - Wednesday shares must be picked up by Friday by 12pm, Saturday shares must be picked up by Tuesday by 12pm. After that produce will be donated, as we need the space for the next round of harvest.
Winter: Pickup is anytime during the week after pickup (Saturday - Saturday)
What if my order doesn’t add up exactly to the assigned value?
We have flexibility within a dollar or two! Manage your own over/under throughout the season. If you want to purchase more than a couple dollars over your share value, ask if we have extra vegetables for purchase, and you’ll need to pay the balance at checkout.
Will there be extra for purchase on the day of pickup?
Usually during summer and fall, you can purchase any extra produce except for limited items. Just ask us! If you do this often, consider upping your share to a larger one: this embraces the CSA model and eases harvesting/planning for us and availability/quality for you and other members.
I missed the window for ordering. What now?
Come to the farm and shop, market-style.
My order wasn’t correct or something wasn’t up to my standards.
We are very sorry! Please let us know at the next pickup and we will make it up to you.
CSA Share Details
Weekly Emails: This email is a farm update, a list of what’s available this week, and contains the link to preorder a bag if you are not going to shop market-style. Summer: expect the email Mondays for Wednesday shares and Thursday for Saturday shares. Winter: every other Tuesday for Saturday pickup.
Pre-Bag Members: use the order form in the email to shop. The order form will close at 2pm on Tuesday (for Wednesday pickup) and Friday (for Saturday pickup). This allows us to harvest to order. Occasionally we may run out of a crop due to an unexpected circumstance, and you’ll get a substitution.
Market Style Members: use the order form sparingly when they need to have a bag made for late pickup.
Pickup Dates: Summer Pickup (choose one at sign-up) is Wednesdays from 2:30pm-6pm or Saturdays from 8:30am-12:30pm. Winter pickup is every other Saturday from 9am-2pm.
On Farm Guidelines
For everyone’s well-being please observe the following guidelines when picking up your share:
For Health and Food safety
Wash your hands before visiting.
Keep pets away from produce or growing areas. No pets inside the barn or in the growing fields.
Touch only the vegetables you are planning to take.
All children must be supervised by an adult at the farm.
Always be on the lookout safety hazards, rough terrain, farm equipment, etc.
If someone else is picking up your share make sure they know the rules (forward them your email!)
Please drive slowly, especially down the hill and keep vehicles in the parking areas.
Farmers agree to the following:
We agree to do everything within our control to provide you with great variety, quality and quantity of tasty, fresh, and organically grown produce. We promise a weekly email with a likely list of what will be available and we promise to have those items laid out nicely for your choosing or bagged to your order. We promise to listen to your feedback and to continually improve the services we provide you.
Members agree to the following:
I will make my best effort to be at each scheduled distribution. If I cannot attend a distribution I will either arrange for someone to pickup my share, ask the farmers to bag my share for later pickup in the fridge, or use another method mentioned above.
I will follow the on-farm guidelines.
I understand that the completed online form and delivered payment are proof of my agreement to join Tributary Farm’s CSA season. Through this partnership, I promise to support the farm through payments on or before the scheduled dates, and in return I will have my share in the weekly harvest.
