Farm Vision
Tributary farm uses organic practices to grow mixed vegetables for our summer and winter CSAs, wholesale accounts, and donations. In 2024 we grew about 8 acres of vegetables and 8 acres of cover crops. We seek to have farm that is defined by diversity, innovation, long-term thinking, and community. We measure success by our ability to:
· Turn a profit
· Build soil and ecosystem health
· Sustain a healthy and diverse client base and team
2025 Marketing outlets:
· Main Season CSA ~ 440 members
· Winter CSA ~ 250 members
· Small scale Wholesale – In the main season we deliver to 5-10 local accounts when we have excess (including 1 distributor)
· Weekly donations to local food pantries
Role And Responsibilities: Production Manager
This position leads our production related activities to grow healthy crops. We always want to craft a role that best suits both you and the farm thus roles will evolve and change as needed.
Planning
Make the field production and irrigation plan for the week
Use the crop plan to stay on top of field preparation and update field records for transplanting and direct seeding as crops hit the ground.
Work with other farm managers to ensure a coordinated weekly strategy depending on weather, harvests, field work, and irrigation needs. There are 3 other management positions currently on the farm. (Farm Manager – oversees the entire operation, Wash and pack / kitchen / farm store manager, CSA and Harvest Manager.
Management
Manage a part time equipment operator in their growing related work focused on tractor operation and irrigation. This person is experienced with all equipment and current irrigation systems and works 3 days per week (previously was the full time lead tractor operator)
Manage a rotating team member that will be field focused on building skills in tractor operation and irrigation.
Manage the crew in field-based activities that require equipment.
Transplanting, cultivation, moving row covers
Our crew is a close-knit, hardworking but fun-loving team of 6-10 people depending on the time of year.
Lead morning meetings to provide the day’s production plan.
Lead Tractor Operator
Execute weekly field plan with delegation as needed
Train others on safe and efficient tractor work
Maintain equipment
Lead Irrigator
Execute weekly irrigation plan with delegation as needed
Make fixes as necessary, maintain pumps and other equipment
As full time crew member you’ll have a hand in all aspects of the farm and will step in where needed.
We will invest heavily in your professional development as a farmer.
As our farm continues to grow positions can evolve to take on increased complexity.
Reports to the Farm Manager
Start Date and hours:
· Ideally, we would like this position to start on March 31, 2025, though we are open to discussing a different start date.
· This is a full-time year around position with lighter hours in the winter months and more hours during the summer.
o General hours are as follows. December through March: 30 hours per week. April through November: 40 – 44 hours per week

· We ask for a verbal commitment for the entire season through Thanksgiving.
Compensation
This can be a salaried or hourly position depending on your payment preference.
Hourly wage is $22-$25 /hour depending on experience.
If salaried the job is not exempt from overtime (and we generally don’t work overtime hours)
All you can eat vegetables.

Vacation
If on salary vacation is paid. If hourly vacation is unpaid.
Vacation for this job is:
Thanksgiving 3 days
Winter holidays 5 days
5 additional days from Dec – March in winter csa off weeks.
5 days during the main growing season April – November
More time off in winter is possible depending on needs and salary would be adjusted.
There is potential for an end of season bonus if we reach our profitability targets, and we are currently looking into turning this into 401k / other retirement savings plans
What we are Looking for:
· A highly organized person to join our mostly returning crew
· 3 years of experience on mixed vegetable farms with over 5 acres in production including at least 1 year of management/leadership experience on a vegetable farm.
· Excellent knowledge of mixed vegetable production including soil fertility and soil health, equipment operation and maintenance, weed management, disease and pest management, harvesting procedures.
· Expert tractor operator.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Excellent observation and critical thinking skills.
· Positive and self-motivated with the ability to motivate others
· Ability to both receive and deliver feedback to improve.
· Ability to work hard and try your best every day in all weather conditions.
· Passionate about producing high quality food as efficiently as possible.
· Proficient in Microsoft excel and word, Gdrive, Sheets, and docs.
· Ability to lift 50 lbs., Valid driver’s License
