Harvest and CSA Manager / Crew Leader / GH maNager
Farm Vision
Tributary farm uses organic practices to grow mixed vegetables for our summer and winter CSAs, wholesale accounts, and donations. In 2024 we grew about 8 acres of vegetables and 8 acres of cover crops. We seek to have farm that is defined by diversity, innovation, long-term thinking, and community. We measure success by our ability to:

2024 Marketing Outlets
o Main Season CSA ~ 400 members
o Winter CSA ~ 210 members
o Small scale Wholesale – In the main season we deliver to 5-10 local accounts when we have excess (including 1 distributor)
o Weekly donations to local food pantries
Role And Responsibilities: Harvest and CSA Manager / Crew Leader / Greenhouse Manager
We are looking to hire an important management position to lead our weekly harvest strategy, CSA administration, crew, and greenhouse production. We are open to a slightly different configuration of the role for the right person.
Lead our weekly CSA and harvest strategy
o Compile our weekly harvest list twice per week along with pre-bag order form and write weekly email to all CSA members
o Lead harvest day strategy including morning team meeting and lead a specific harvest team responsible for certain crops
o Maintain excellent records and ensure that team members track harvest, sales, and inventory correctly
o Work CSA at least 1 day per week (could be in rotation)
o Work with other farm managers to ensure a coordinated weekly strategy depending on weather, field work, and irrigation needs. There are 3 other management positions currently on the farm. (Farm Manager – oversees the entire operation, Field Manager – oversees tractor operation and growing focused activities, Wash and pack, kitchen, and farm store manager – oversees those areas. This position reports to the Farm Manager
General crew leader
o Direct Management of our crew which includes about 3 full time and 3-4 part time employees each season (mostly returning).
o Lead the crew in day-to-day tasks and projects by doing exemplary work and providing good feedback
o Lead monthly check ins with crew and seasonal performance reviews.
Green House Lead
o Lead all greenhouse seeding and management (this was included in the previous role but could also be separated out depending on experience and interest)
Tractor operator
Depending on experience and interest this role could include some tractor / equipment operation
All around team player – step in where needed
Full time crew members will have a hand in most of the major farm jobs. Green House, transplanting, cultivation, weeding, harvest, wash & pack, building projects, and tractor work depending on interest.
We will invest heavily in your professional development as a farmer. As our farm continues to grow positions can evolve to take on increased complexity.
Start Date and hours:
Ideally, we would like this position to start between January 14 and February 3, 2025, though we are open to discussing a different start date for the right person.
This is a full-time year around position with lighter hours in the winter months and more hours during the summer.
General hours are as follows. December through March: 30 hours per week. April through November: 40 – 45 hours per week
We ask for a verbal commitment for the entire season through Thanksgiving.
Compensation
This can be a salaried or hourly position depending on your payment preference.
Hourly wage is $20-23 /hour. depending on experience.
Salaried wage would be $37,500-$42,500 / year depending on experience.

2 weeks of paid vacation per year for salaried employees.
1 week of paid vacation is recommended between April-November
More unpaid vacation is possible in winter, and we are flexible to other advanced vacation requests.
There is potential for an end of season bonus if we reach our profitability targets, and we are currently looking into turning this into 401k / other retirement savings plans
What we are Looking for:
· A highly organized person to join our mostly returning crew
· 3 years of experience on mixed vegetable farms with over 5 acres in production including at least 1 year of management/leadership experience on a vegetable farm.
· Excellent knowledge of mixed vegetable farming including crop by crop knowledge of harvest procedures and growing practices.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Excellent observation and critical thinking skills.
· Positive and self-motivated with the ability to motivate others
· Ability to both receive and deliver feedback to improve.
· Ability to work hard and try your best every day in all weather conditions.
· Passionate about producing high quality food as efficiently as possible.
· Proficient in Microsoft excel and word, Gdrive, Sheets, and docs. Mailchimp is a plus.
· Previous greenhouse management and tractor operation is a plus.
· Ability to lift 50 lbs., Valid driver’s License
